8 May – Though Fan Bingbing grabbed the top spot of the Forbes China Celebrity 100 List, it was Jay Chou who was revealed to be the biggest earner of the year. As reported on Mingpao, since the most influential celebrity is not necessary the highest earner, it was reported that Jay defeated Fan Bingbing in this sense, grabbing the top spot with an annual income of RMB 165.5 million (USD 26.6 million). The singer-producer has not only been busy with his concert tours, which has been bringing a lot of profit to him and his company, JVR Music, his self-produced and directorial effort, "The Rooftop" also broke RMB 100 million at the box office last year. While Andy Lau was ranked second in terms of influence, it was China's tennis star Li Na who came after Jay Chou in terms of earnings, with RMB 141.5 million in annual income, while Taiwanese rock band, Mayday is third with RMB 133.3 million. Meanwhile, the most influential Chinese star of the year, Fan Bingbing is placed fourth in terms of her annual income, making RMB 122 million last year through several movies and endorsement deals.
