Taiwanese singer and actor Jay Chou is preparing to start work on Initial D 2, the sequel to his 2005 Hong Kong action thriller Initial D.
A sequel has been the topic of rumors for many years, so to finally see
it happen has made many fans happy. The film will be directed by the
original director Andrew Lau, and fans will also see the return of Hong Kong actor Edison Chen.
The story of the film is based on a Japanese manga series by Shuichi Shigeno of the same name and centers around a tofu-delivery driver named Takumi Fujiwara (Chou) who dreams of becoming a professional racer. Takumi comes to befriend fellow racer Ryosuke Takahashi (Edison Chen) and joins his racing team at the end of the movie.
No other cast members have been confirmed, but currently, Chou has already started campaigning for the return of Shawn Yue. Other actors currently being considered for roles include Ekin Cheng, Wakana Matsumoto, Chen Daoming, Simon Yam, and Anthony Wong.
